Day 01: Delhi Begain your tour Arrive into Delhi Welcome
to Vardhman's "South India Wildlife Tour"! On arrival in Delhi,
you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative to your hotel. Relax
for the remaining part of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 02: Delhi
Full day sight seeing tour of tour of the city. Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's
tomb, Lakshminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu Temple, Parliament House, Government
Secretarial Building and Connaught place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.
Visit Red Fort, built in 1648 by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan, Jama Masjid, one of
the largest Mosque of India, Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana, the cremation sites of
Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Also drive past Chandni Chowk, shopping
centre of Old Delhi. Overnight: Hotel Day 03: Delhi - Bangalore-Mysore
On the day 3 of your tour transfer to Delhi airport to catch flight for Bangalore.
Upon arrival at Bangalore you will be met and transferred directly to Mysore.
On route to Mysore, visit island fortress of Srirangapatnam, the capital of Hyder
Ali and his son Tipu Sultan, Tipu's Palace, Gumbaz, Tipu's Summer Palace.
On reaching Mysore, transfer to a hotel and visit illuminated Vrindavan gardens
and Krishnarajasagar dam in the evening. Overnight: Hotel Day
04: Mysore - Nagarhole (Approx 100 kms / 3 hours drive ) After breakfast
proceed on a city tour of Mysore. Visit Maharaja Palace built as recently
as 1897, which is one of the biggest in India;St Philomena's Church etc.; Sri
Jauyachamarajendra Art Gallery housed in the Jagmohan Palace, which has a collection
of exquisite paintings, Folklore museum. Later in the afternonn dive to Nagarhole.
On arrival, check in at Hotel for overnight stay. Overnight: Hotel Day
05: Nagarhole National Park Early morning wildlife tours and bird screening
in the park or a Coracle ride on the Kabini River are the engagements which kick
start an eventful day 5 of the tour. Enjoy an evening jeep ride or an Elephant
ride Into the Nagarhole jungle. Nagarhole National Park: Established in 1955
as a sanctuary and designated as a National park in 1975, the park was later renamed
as Rajiv Gandhi National Park after the late Prime Minister of India. In Kannada
it stands for 'Snake River', a few serpentine streams fork through the rich tropical
forests of the park. On its northern confines is the Kabini River and on its southern
fringes is the Bandipur national park. A dam on the Kabini River and its picturesque
reservoir demarcates the two national parks. During the dry season (February.
June), this artificial lake attracts a large number of animals, making it an ideal
spot for sighting wildlife. Overnight: Hotel Day 06: Nagarhole National
Park - BR Hills This morning after breakfast drive to the spectacular
Wildlife-B R Hills. Check into your hotel for an overnight stay. BR Hills
constitute a live link between the Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats facilitating
an active exchange of gene pools between them. Thus this sanctuary serves as an
important biological bridge for the biota of the entire Deccan plateau. The hills
are in the Yelandur taluk of Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. The hills are
contiguous with the Satyamangalam range southwards, in the Erode district of Tamil
Nadu. The area is 90 km from Mysore and 180 km from Bangalore Overnight: Hotel Day
07: BR Hills Day 7 is another day of morning and evening wildlife viewing
and strenuous bird watching. Overnight: Hotel Day 08: BR Hills -
Bandipur National Park This morning depart Bandipur which is a 4 hour
drive after devouring a hearty breakfast. Upon arrival check into your hotel.
Later visit Bandipur National Park. Bandipur National Park: Nestled in the
foothills of the Western Ghats mountains, the Bandipur National Park is well-known
for its expansive tracts of virgin forest. Once a popular game reserve of the
Mysore Maharajas, today Bandipur National Park is part of the Niligiri Biosphere
Reserve encompassing the Nagarhole National Park, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in
Kerala and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. In 1973 Bandipur wildlife
sanctuary was conferred the status of a designated tiger reserve as per the ambitious
Project Tiger Scheme launched by the World Wide Fund (WWF). In 1974, the Bandipur
wildlife sanctuary was declared a National Park under the Wildlife Protection
Act. Since then stringent anti-poaching measures have resulted in a steady increase
in the big cat population. Overnight: Hotel Day 09: Bandipur National
Park Full day free to visit Bandipur National Park. Day 9 includes within
its schedule a round of morning and evening wildlife viewing and bird watching.
Overnight: Hotel Day 10: Bandipur National Park-Ooty Early morning
after breakfast, drive towards Ooty- the Beautiful leading hill resort of south
India. Situated in the heart of the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains), at the height of
2287 Mtr., it lies on a plateau and looks like a vast park. Lofty hills add to
the grandeur of the scenery. Its climate is similar to summer in England. The
terraced beautiful gardens, which are landmark in Ooty. Ooty is also known for
its tea & coffee plantations. Upon arrival check in at Hotel. Later
visit the Tea plantations and cherish the scenic beauty of Ooty. Visit the lake,
Botanical Gardens, Conoor Tea Gardens, Sims Park, Dolphins Nose. Later
visit Film shooting points & other points of interest or shopping etc.
Overnight: Hotel Day 11: Ooty - Munnar - Eravikulam National Park
On the 11 of your tour, drive to the beautiful hill station of Munnar set amid
Southern India's most dramatic mountain scenery and the combination of craggy
Peaks, Manicured Tea Estates.Crisp mountain air makes Munnar a delightful alternative
to the better known hill stations of Tamil Nadu. It is a perennial favorite of
'Honeymooners' and offer magnificent scenery and wonderful walks. At Munnar you
are free to explore its beauty of nature. Overnight: Hotel Day 12:
Eravikulam National Park -Idukki Dam- Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary Day free
to visit Eravikulam National park, which is home to the endangered specie of a
mountain goat called the Nilgiri Tahr. The national park also has number of exotic
plants. The highest peak of south India called Anaimudi is located in this sanctuary,
which lends a mystical charm to the landscape. Later drive to Periyar on the
way visiting Idukki dam. On arrival check in at your pre-booked hotel. Periyar
Wildlife sanctuary: It is home to nomadic tribes of wild elephant, boar, deer,
the great Indian tiger and more. One of the well known wildlife sanctuaries in
the south, Periyar sanctuary attracts a large number of nature lovers every year.
Also called the Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary, this place is ideal for watching
the animals in their natural habitat. The forest here, slopes into the manmade
lake at the bottom of the hill. This lake serves as the waterhole for the animals
and they come here to drink or take a dip. Elephants, Gaur, Sambhar and even tigers
can be spotted here. The best season to visit the park is between October and
June. Evening go for boat cruise in the lake to watch wild animals. Other
attractions of the sanctuary are the Sambhar, Bison, Spotted Deer, Tigers, Leopards,
Malabar Flying Squirrels, Stripe necked Mongooses, etc. There are over 260 species
of birds here, including Nilgiri Wood Pigeons, blue-winged Parakeets, White bellied
Tree Pies, laughing Thrushes and Fly Catchers. Overnight: Hotel Day
13: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary A morning and evening boat cruise is the
star attraction of the sanctuary with the whole concoction being made too good
to neglect as one is witness to the regaling sight of wild elephants pleasing
themselves in the lake or one can opt for the antics of the domestic and migratory
birds, also. Overnight: Hotel Day 14: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
- Kumarakom This morning after a leisurely breakfast drive to Kumarakom.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day.
Overnight: Hotel Day 15: Kumarakoram Bird Sanctuary A gratifying
backwater cruise coupled with an evening visit to the picturesque Kumarakoram
Bird Sanctuary form the staple for Day 15 of the wildlife tour. Night time is
spent with an overnight stay at the resort. Overnight: Hotel Day
16: Kumarakoram Bird Sanctuary - Kochi This morning after breakfast transfer
to Cochin International airport to board the flight for your onward journey to
